In this course, students will improve their reading and writing skills as they learn the basic building blocks of creating a play: plot, character, thought, diction, melody, and spectacle.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will read and analyze the work of contemporary and classic playwrights to learn about literary and dramatic traditions.
- Students will learn how to give constructive feedback to each other's work and accept feedback about their own in a workshop setting.
- The student will complete a draft of their ten-minute play (approximately ten pages) for submission to competitions, festivals, or productions.
