In this class, students will conduct advanced readings and decisions around issues in their community and write publishable Op-Eds about topics they care about. Specifically, the class is oriented for students to submit Op-Eds to the New York Times Student Editorial Contest, the premiere student op-ed competition in the United States, where they can earn national recognition. Each class will include mini-lessons on content, readings, group analysis/debate/discussion, and writing activities.
