Dear All, I was so impressed by the discussion we generated during our first meeting last Friday. Talking about Malala very quickly brought to our attention some of the most challenging problems facing our world today. We discussed culture, gender equality, and cultural relativity. Each learner contributed unique viewpoints, and together we formed a cohesive and well-rounded yet conclusive perspective. Women and men used to be equal (equal amounts of work), then they started to degrade woman (men). But now this gap is being pushed away. Yet we are not finished yet. Malala is just one example of many people including Susan B. Anthony (women’s voting rights). Its step by step and a cross-generational process. It will take time but trying is better than doing nothing.
