Chapters 2 and 3:
Kira walks back from the Field to find that her garden has been ransacked and her house burned. She starts to set of on the toiling task of rebuilding her home but a group of women come to murder her, with Vandara as the main conspirator. Kira convinces them not to kill her, but instead take her to court, where Vandara tries to accuse her of contributing nothing to her village.
