Your first impressions of the free demo and open source hardware disk image software wont surprise you. The program has a detailed beginners' guide, and the manual is in Italian. I could download the demo for another language, but not the source code. Thats one of the few things I'm not happy with.
The program can run from the hard disk, boot CD or even its own DVD, but there is no restore within the demo program. The good news is that the program works on multiple computers, with the best results with multiple computers. If you leave your backup disk untouched, using only the backup software, and you have more than one system, you can restore the backups from all the systems together. Once you've achieved that state, you can try restoring and booting from that disc. If this doesnt work, you can try to boot from a second disk which has all the data copied to it.
It's basic and it does what it needs to do. Especially for the price. I have no other problems using it. It's a simple solution for a simple task, and a great choice for a backup or even clone or restore. I tried Acronis true image, but the interface is outdated compared to this. For what I need, it works perfect.
I also have tried various backup applications. I've tried TestDisk, GParted, DriveImage, dd, Clonezilla and Acronis, I've even bootable DOS and Linux Discs and other things. I've had as much luck with the backup solutions as I have had with recovery solutions, which is none at all! 3d9ccd7d82
